The Standard System: Closed-Cell Foam + Intumescent Paint

The proven system for parking deck insulation is 2″ of 2 lb closed-cell foam sprayed directly to the underside of the concrete deck and to exposed beams. After the foam cures, an intumescent paint topcoat is applied to satisfy fire code requirements (IBC Chapter 26 / IFC). The intumescent coat expands when exposed to heat, protecting the foam from flame spread and meeting the thermal barrier requirement for exposed foam insulation in occupied or semi-occupied structures.

This combination is maintenance-free for the life of the building. Unlike batt insulation systems that can fall, absorb moisture, or become a nesting habitat for birds and vermin in open parking structures, spray foam is monolithic, bonded, and impervious.
